Tuesday 2/20/07 5 miles 54 minutes
4:30 43 degrees sunny to the East, Gray to the West. The drizzle started as I was walking back to the house.

Well, it has been some time hasn't it. You probably think that I am just runnin' so much I have no time to blog. If it were only true. I did not run at all this holiday week-end. As you know, I went out of town on Wednesday. I guess I could've run on Tuesday, not sure why I didn't but that is water under the bridge now. So my big plan was to do some low-impact training - possibly some swimming. That worked for Wednesday night, Katy and I went to the fitness room, her on the bike, me on the ellipical trainer for 30+ minutes. Thursday night was not so successful, we got all dressed up but the fitness room was full. So rather than just turn in, we did stairs. It took us as long to find the stairs as it did to exercise. We went down (and up) the stairs, walked (quickly) the 5th floor corridor, and down (and up) the other set of stairs. So much for low impact. It actually wasn't too bad - we didn't run.
But then on Friday night Andrea showed up and we were forced to go out to dinner and drink beer rather than exercise. Saturday, as I said before was a travel day. Sunday and Monday, I have no excuse. I just didn't run. I didn't have any energy. I know that running gives you energy but my brain wasn't buying it. I took some multi-vitamins instead to try to perk up.
And that brings us to today. 5 miles. I have no idea if this was a long run or short run. It certainly wasn't a speed run. Although I think the end was faster than the beginning. My first race is March 5th. I think I will be ready for a 5k. The best part of the run was the new bra from Title 9. I got several. I got a balance ball also for stretching. I like to just sit on it.

I have no idea what my week looks like. I guess I will try to run on Thursday, and long run on Sunday. We shall see.

Sunday 2/11/07 3 miles 32.3 minutes
5:18 48 degrees overcast/sunsetting

Okay, so I tried the easy run after a long run day. I am not sure about this. It was hard to get started. I had memories of how I felt last February at the start of runs. The interesting part of that is that I had to remember how that felt which means I don't really feel bad at the start of my runs now. Or at least I haven't recently. We will see if it comes back. Once I passed the mile mark I was fine. I wasn't going to go running, especially so late in the day. In fact I talked with Martie on the phone, had a piece of spice cake and crawled back into bed because i was cold. I thought of taking a shower to warm up when I decided that if I am going to take a shower this late I might as well go running first and then have the shower. Because it was so spur of the moment, I didn't put in my contacts. remind me to always wear my contacts from now on. I really don't like how my glasses fog up.

I have decided that a 6mile pace or 1 mile every 10 minutes is ideal. All the math is so much easier to work out. I need to get just a bit faster.
I am eager to see if I am more or less sore tomorrow.

Saturday, 2/10/07 7 miles 77 minutes
3:30 49 degrees sunny - Mt Baker visibility

I had a very long week, what with turning 42 and all. No running, lots of driving and working. My plan is to try the long run today and a short run tomorrow. I had some weird shin pains this week. I would be just standing or sitting doing nothing particularly strenuous and I would get a quick sharp pain in my shin and then it was gone. It happened several times thoughout the week but usually several hours apart. I felt it once on the run today.

Next week I go to Portland. I am planning to exercise in the hotel, maybe do some swimming if they are so equiped for a change. Saturday will be a travel day so my long run will have to be Sunday.

sunday, 2/4/06 6 mi 65 minutes

12:40 43 degrees Not much to say. I knew I had to go running but I don't really have a plan right now. I ran 3 miles out on the trail, started to walk back for two minutes, and then ran the rest of the way back. I know that my long run was supposed to be on Saturday but the weather was yucky and my knees were bothering my a bit. blah blah blah. But I am not too worried about falling behind just yet. In fact, am just starting to feel like I am getting back in the groove. I will try to run on Wednesday again. But I am too busy the rest of the week to fit anything in. On Friday I have to be to work by 7:30 which means that I have to be out of the house by 6:00, or earlier if I want to stop and get coffee. I will try to do my long run on Saturday and another short run on Sunday.

No running on Saturday. It was all rainy and cold and I had to go out drinking instead.
